Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Highland War Industries ("HWI", "we", "us") collects when you visit highlandwarindustries.com or contact us through it, how we use that information, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can, we do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information you give us
When you use our contact form, we receive what you enter: your name, your email address, the type of inquiry you choose (general, investor or policy maker) and your message. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
When you browse the site, some information is collected without you entering it:
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: the pages you view and for how long, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address). Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, Webflow, and the content delivery networks that serve the site's scripts, fonts and 3D model (jsDelivr, cdnjs and unpkg) receive standard technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Bot protection. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell real visitors from automated spam. It runs invisibly when the form opens: Cloudflare collects technical information about your browser and device, such as your IP address and browser characteristics, and signals about how you interact with the page, to confirm you are not a bot. Cloudflare's handling of this information is governed by Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Preferences on your device. The site remembers your light or dark theme choice, and whether you have already seen the loading screen in this visit, in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
How we use information
To respond to your inquiry and keep a record of our correspondence.
To understand how the site is used and improve it.
To keep the site secure and working.
To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run the site and our communications on our behalf: Webflow (hosting and form submissions), Cloudflare (bot protection on the contact form), Google (analytics) and our email provider. They may use it only to provide those services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.
Cookies and your choices
The only cookies the site sets are Google Analytics cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics from collecting data on any site. The site works the same without them. Google describes how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Google Analytics opt-out add-onHow long we keep it
We keep inquiries and correspondence for as long as we need them to respond to you and to keep reasonable business records, and then delete them. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights; we will honor any request as the law that applies to you requires. Contact us through our contact page to make a request. We will not treat you differently for making one.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to form submissions is limited to the people at HWI who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
HWI is based in Tennessee, and the information described here is processed in the United States. By using the site or contacting us, you understand that your information will be handled under United States law.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
